FUJIFILM GFX100 and HAL 220 LF

Photo Modes and Image Circles

The sensor size of the FUJIFILM GFX is 42.8 x 32.9 mm.
The image circle size of the Entaniya Fisheye HAL 220 LF can be adjusted in steps from a minimum focal length of 9.1 mm to a maximum focal length of 12.6 mm.

Minimum focal length 9.1mm

The minimum focal length is 9.1 mm and the image circle is 33.1 mm in diameter, as shown in the green line above figure.

It looks almost like a circumferential fisheye lens, but in reality, the top and bottom are slightly cut off.

Since it has a 220-degree field of view, it can be used as a 210-degree circuler fisheye lens when cropped except for the vignetting.

If you really want a 220-degree circumferential image, we recommend the Entaniya Fisheye HAL 220 PL, which is a HAL 220 series lens with a smaller image circle than the LF.

Maximum focal length of 12.6 mm

When used at the maximum focal length of 12.6 mm, the image circle is 46.3 mm in diameter, as shown in the red line in the above figure.

Advantages of combining the FUJIFILM GFX100 with the Entaniya Fisheye HAL 220 LF

High resolution material for dome contents

When used at a focal length of 10.6 mm, the 180° circumference fits exactly on the sensor.

A high resolution of approximately 8.500 px can be achieved at 180 degrees. This makes it ideal for capturing material for dome contents where high-resolution video is required.

High-resolution 360° panoramic photo

Generally, when taking high-resolution 360° panoramic photos, a lens with a long focal length (a lens with a narrow angle of view) is used to increase the resolution.

As a result, the number of shots for both horizontal and vertical shooting increases and the shooting time also increases.

The more shots you take, the more likely you are to have problems with accuracy, and the more time and effort you have to put into the final stitching of the photos.

When used with the Entaniya Fisheye HAL 220 LF at a focal length of 12.6 mm, the Entaniya Fisheye HAL 220 LF can encompass 360 degrees in just three shots.

In that case, the 180° field of view contains about 10,300 px of pixels, creating a high-resolution 360° panoramic photo of about 20,000 x 10,000 px.

When shooting outdoors in areas where cars and people come and go, or where there are time constraints, using a wide-angle lens is a huge advantage.

Video Mode and Image Circles

Video on the FUJIFILM GFX100 is shot using the full width of the sensor.

The aspect ratio is 16:9, which means that the top and bottom of the sensor is cut off, resulting in a height size of around 24.6 mm.

The diagonal size is larger than the image circle of the HAL 220 LF, resulting in vignetting in the four corners as shown in the above figure.

Sample Video

This is the actual footage.
The aspect ratio is 16:9 and you can see a little vignetting in the four corners of the image being shot.

Anamorfish video

Fisheye lens distortions are corrected to create an ultra-wide Anaorfish image, which eliminates vignetting in the four corners.

Entaniya Fisheye HAL 220 LF

The Entaniya Fisheye HAL 220 LF has a maximum image circle size of 46.3mm, which doesn’t exactly cover medium-format sensors, but it can be used as a 180-degree circumferential fisheye lens to make the most of the GFX100’s high-resolution sensor, or as an ultra-wide-angle image (Anamorfish) and many other uses, depending on the idea.
